"Early Spring Mosaic" Juried Into 43rd Adirondack National Exhibition of American Watercolor5/15/2024 I received great news that my newest painting, Early Spring Mosaic, was accepted into the 43rd Adirondack National Exhibition of American Watercolors. I'm really excited about having a piece in this show again this year; last year was my first acceptance into the show, after many prior attempts.
This prestigious exhibit showcases works in watermedia from all over the US and is beautifully displayed every year at the View Arts Center in Old Forge, NY. This year's show opens on August 2 with a big reception and awards ceremony and runs to September 28. Early Spring Mosaic was a bit of an experimental piece for me. I focused on exploring the push and pull of negative and positive spaces with this early spring woodland setting. The painting is as much about the marks as the subject matter; line work was done in concentrated transparent watercolor, using a quill pen. The painting measures 17"x11" and is framed to 24"x18".
