A Little Bit About MeAs an artist based in the Lake George/Adirondack region, much of my work celebrates the aesthetics of the land, lakes, mountains and coastline of the Northeast and New England. The inherent poetry of nature and the push and pull of positive and negative space inspire my painting practice. Although my
paintings are representational, I approach my work with an eye to more abstract qualities, harmonizing atmosphere and movement with form, color and line. I paint primarily in transparent watercolor and gouache and occasionally in oil, pastel and acrylic, creating works both in my studio and en plein air. I frequently add fine line pen or pen & ink line work to the composition after applying the paint, enhancing the forms and shifts in colors that my watercolor technique creates. I enjoy conveying stories with my imagery; even a simple landscape can tell a subtle tale. I also conduct workshops, teaching artists of all levels how to enjoy watercolor as a medium. My work has been exhibited in many juried, group and solo shows throughout the Northeast and my landscapes and commissioned paintings have found homes with collectors all over the US. Recent juried show acceptances and awards include the 2023 and 2024 Adirondack National Exhibition of American Watercolors Old Forge NY, Bryan Gallery’s 2023 and 2024 Land & Light & Water & Air Exhibit Jeffersonville VT, the Art of NY Annual Juried Show 2023 at the Arkell Museum Canajoharie NY, 2023. Silver Award winner in North Country Arts Annual Juried Show Glens Falls NY, 2022 and 2023 Green Mountain Watercolor Exhibition Waitsfield VT, 2022 Marblehead Arts Association National Juried Exhibit with a Third Place award in the Fine Arts Category, Marblehead MA. I am an associate member of New England Watercolor Society and I have Signature status with the Vermont Watercolor Society. |
