All framed and ready to get packed up, Meander will be shipped out to New England Watercolor Society’s Celebrating New England exhibit in Plymouth, MA. Super nice to have my new watercolor painting accepted into a NEWS show after joining this established long-standing watercolor society earlier this year, part of my ongoing effort to seek out more exhibit opportunities farther into New England and the Northeast. Exhibit opens July 12, runs until Sept 4 in the New England Watercolor Gallery at Plymouth Center for the Arts. There is a reception on August 15, 6-8pm, but I won't be able to get to it since I'm teaching a watercolor workshop up in Ticonderoga that afternoon (maybe if I pop into the Star Trek museum up in Ti, they can beam me over to Plymouth after my workshop, ha ha!). With this painting, I worked to capture the feeling of a hazy summer day on a meandering mountain river: the air and how it affects the light as the calm waters wind into the marshy areas and the colors and shades become more subtle in the distance. The painting measures 11"x15" and is framed to 16"x20" (outside dimensions of frame are 18.75"x22.75"), available in the show for $690.
