Solo Exhibit at Caldwell Lake George Library

8/18/2024

I am showing a large selection of my work in a solo exhibit at the Caldwell Lake George Library September 3-October 31. All works will be available for purchase from the show. I'll also have art prints for sale of a few of my Lake George scenes.

The library hosts a Meet the Artist reception on Wednesday, September 18 at 6pm. Looking forward to hanging out that evening and talking a little about my work.

Located at 226 Canada Street in Lake George Village, the library is a very active hub for the community, with art classes, special author events, kids activities. The library partners with Lake George Arts Project to present exhibits by regional artists that change out every two months; both organizations split a 25% commission on all art sales, helping to support their respective programming, with the artist receiving the remaining 75%.

"River Power" Chosen for Land & Light & Water & Air Exhibit at Bryan Gallery

"River Power", portrays the rush and power of the Hudson River's high waters in spring, spilling over the dam at Glens Falls, crashing over the rocks, sending mist up in the air. It's one of my favorites painted this year because of the challenges the scene presented: the subtle shifts in values of the water, soft and hard edges, color balance in the highlights and shadows, and those wonderful shapes in the rocks. There are pieces of the painting that just came together so wonderfully on their own, That is the beauty and joy of painting in watercolor - letting the medium and the water work together to make magic while guiding a little of that accidental process into a painting that celebrates water in a way that only transparent watercolor can.

I'm so pleased that "River Power" watercolor was selected for the Land & Light & Water & Air exhibit at Bryan Gallery in Jeffersonville, Vermont from August 28 to December 22. Opening Reception takes place on Thursday, September 5, 4-7pm. Land & Light & Water & Air is Bryan Gallery's annual signature exhibition featuring traditional and contemporary landscapes of Vermont, New England and the Northeast by artists from all over the country.
